Some big names in art and architecture have decided to have some fun with spring’s favorite holiday this year. From April 1-April 17, Faberge is hosting a huge Easter egg hunt throughout the city. To participate, individuals can download the app, “The Big Egg Hunt”, and begin finding “eggs”. There are hundreds of eggs hidden throughout the city, and an interactive map to use in finding eggs. On April 8, all egg placements were added to the map to assist participants. Once an egg has been found, the participant can photograph the egg and submit the photograph to enter for a chance to win a prize.
Prizes Designed by Faberge
Each week, one contestant will be chosen and awarded an egg shaped pendant with hundreds of diamonds, rubies, emeralds, and amethysts. The total value of the pendants is $125,000, with all of the stones being donated to the cause. Contestants can enter the sweepstakes to win these pendants by submitting the found eggs through the app, and can enter up to five times each day.
The Egg Hunt
The 260 egg sculptures for the hunt range widely in design and color, and were constructed by artists and architects such as Jeff Koons, Rasmussen, Jane Morgan, Maria Canale, Zaha Hadid, and many others. The eggs will be sold at auction following the event, with all proceeds going to children of New York City through Studio in a School or to help preserve the habitat of Asian elephants through Elephant Family. Bidding for the sculptures has begun online.
