There has been a decided lack of Nicholas Cage artwork put out into the world, so Ezra Croft decided to do something about it. Inspired by the intensity of the actor, Croft had the idea to create an art show completely based on the work and persona of Nicholas Cage. To kick off the show, Croft set out to bring fans and haters together to create artwork based on or inspired by Nicholas Cage. To meet the challenge of bringing the fans together, Croft placed ads on Craigslist all over the world, in Nigeria, the Ukraine, Japan, and many cities throughout the U.S. The response was overwhelming, and today Croft has about eighty artists from four continents participating.
Features of the Exhibit
The Nicholas Cage Art Show and Musical Shenanigans will open on April 12. Balancoire in San Francisco will host the event, which promises to be a big party complete with a bar. The Nicholas Cage artwork ranges from profound and professional to quirky and amateur, with all spectrums in between explored. Some paintings and pencil sketches depict Cage in varying roles from movies in exquisite detail. One piece is a collage of Cage’s face from a variety of roles that he has done. Another features a thoughtful Cage with the titles of his movies penciled in as his hair. There is also a Cage face popping out of a Conair gun. There are some Technicolor renditions to complete the menagerie. The event is sure to be a blast. I wonder what the party-goers would do if Nicholas Cage showed up for it?
