In this age of mass-production and speed, art can offer a bit of respite from all the hustle and worry. Whether you tastes in art are flowers and sunshine, abstract, or dark and deep, there is sure to be at least one local artist that pleases your fancy. Purchasing their paintings will allow them to continue crafting the art that you love, while also pumping life blood into your community. If the artist is local, chances are that some of the money that you pay them will go right back into purchases from other local stores, creating a happy and abundant circle.
Around this time of year, many artists gravitate towards the fall and Halloween. It is easy to pick up some very unique and beautiful Halloween decorations or artwork from your local art gallery that can give your home some first-rate original touches for years to come.
Artists are People, Too
It is easy to support your local artists, but there are some things to keep in mind when meeting with an artist and speaking to them about buying their artwork. Many people lose sight of the fact that the artist is a person that is trying to make a living by doing something that they are passionate about. Offering a substantially lower amount than what is listed on a painting is insulting and not likely to be well accepted. If you can afford the painting and you want it, pay the full price. Doing this is an endorsement and an investment. If you want a customized painting, do not rush the artist. Understand that the person has a process for creating the artwork that you love, and must go through that process to give you the best result for your painting. Rushing the person may cause the quality of the art to go down, as stressing the artist may take them out of the mind frame in which they crafted your favorite pieces. Last but not least, all artists appreciate kind words; if you love their work, let them know!
