In his photograph series “Spring—Autumn”, artist Qozop took a simple concept and made an interesting statement on how ignoring the notion of “dressing your age” can have beautiful results. For the project, Qozop took a photograph of two people from obviously different generations, then had them swap clothing and took another photograph, with each subject in the garb of a different generation.
Basis of the Project
Qozop dared to dream of a world where people need not worry about being judged for dressing a certain way past a certain age. His project allowed us to catch a glimpse of that world, and it is heartening. In some sets it is actually difficult to distinguish the original wearer photo from the swap photo.
To add a level of fun to his photographs Qozop had the subjects assume the same position as the original photograph, with the outfit dictating the pose. In this way, the subjects not only stepped into the style of clothing, but the attitude and posture associated with the generation difference. Instead of going with blank or flat backgrounds that would emphasize the transition and make the subjects stand out as the lone focal points, Qozop chose to set the subjects against more natural and interesting backgrounds, adding artistry to the pieces. The photographs are fun to look at and perhaps somewhat eye opening. We think this project was a win! What do you think?
