Kids of the 90s will most likely remember the beloved series “Goosebumps” by R.L. Stine. Featuring such titles as The Haunted Mask and The Werewolf of Fever Swamp, kids were chilled, thrilled, and entertained by the child-based, modern (to the 90s) horror tales with a comic spin. Now some of those 90s kids have grown up but have not outgrown their love of Goosebumps tales.
Monster Edition
Artists Sabrina Parolin and Jennifer Ilett have brought together a collection of 46 pages of Goosebumps inspired art done by forty artists from around the globe. Brought together in an art zine called “Monster Edition”, the soft cover collection is available for about twenty dollars online. About the collection, Parolin and Ilett say that they both loved the series and the subsequent television show while they were growing up, and wanted to organize the project in order to bring out some art that depicted some of their favorite stories. They also felt that coming together with these different artists was a great opportunity to team up with artists that felt a similar relation to the Goosebumps series.
The art zine is available now for purchase. The works within vary radically, but all find a perfect balance between horror and comedy, perfectly illustrating the mood of the bestselling series. Most of the artwork is caricature style; some are more graphic, while others are more realistic. Let the nostalgia begin with this unique take on a most loved collection of stories!
