art of the brick photoEver since he was a kid, Nathan Sawaya has always enjoyed building with Lego bricks. Today, the New York based artist, Nathan Sawaya, has turned his hobby into a full-blown profession. Nathan Sawaya’s exhibit, “The Art of The Brick,” at New York City’s Discovery Times Square is a must-see. The exhibit consists of recreations of famous masterpieces and some of Sawaya’s personal designs, constructed entirely out of Lego bricks.

Each of Nathan Sawaya’s workings is extremely complex. I was surprised by the accuracy in each of his creations, as well as incredibly impressed by his overall use of material. Who knew how much could be done with Lego bricks. Nathan has done something truly unique. He has taken a common object, which many of us only associated with when we were young, and has incorporated it into a fine art.

In addition to the exhibit’s fun and playful side, there is also a great amount of emotion expressed in many of Sawaya’s pieces. This will take you by surprise. In this particular exhibit, Sawaya included a variety of New York City inspired pieces, as well as some creations from his childhood. If you have not yet seen it, I highly suggest going to visit this exhibit. No matter what age you are, Nathan Sawaya’s artwork will entertain and truly inspire you.
